Applying a visa to India has become a matter of a few minutes, all thanks to the online visa application process that has been started lately. Introduction of e-Visa India has eased the process of obtaining a visa to India in a few simple steps without needing to visit an Embassy or Consulate.
Here are the simple steps to be undertaken to get away with the Indian e-Visa Application process:
To begin filling the Indian e visa online application form, visit the link- https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/Registration. In the form, you will be required to fill in all the details in the most correct manner. The details asked may include personal details (name, D.O.B, address, email address), Passport details, family details, occupation, nationality, and much more.
The next step is to upload the documents that are mandatory to complete the visa application process. The required documents include digital passport size photo, scanned copy of passport, and other documents depending on the visa category you have applied for:
Once you are done filling the application form, the next step is to make payment. E-visa fees depend on a number of factors such as the type of visa, duration of stay and the nationality of the applicant. Other than this, for certain countries the visa can be availed for free and for peak and lean season, the different amount is charged. So once you fill the details in your form, the total visa fees i.e. the basic fee plus the processing fee have to be paid as the last step of the application process.
The payment can be made using any of the two options- SBIePay and Axis Bank. However, make sure that you have filled the application form correctly, as once it gets rejected for any reason, visa fees will not be refunded in any case.
After making the payment successfully, you will receive an email with your Application Id that can be further used to check the status of your online visa application. To check the visa status, go to the link- https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/StatusEnquiry, enter your Application Id, Passport Number, captcha code and click on 'Check Status'. The status needs to show 'Granted' before you leave for India.
Once your visa application will get approved by the Indian Government, it will be sent to you via email. It takes somewhere around 4-7 business days to get the visa approved and receive it. After receiving, you can take a printout of the visa and carry it along with you throughout your stay in India.
After you have received your e-Visa and are ready to leave for India, there are some things that need to be kept in mind. You need to be in possession of your original valid passport, flight ticket, and the printed copy of e-Visa. These are the basic things that you are going to need for a smooth trip to India.
The moment you will check-in, you may be asked to show your return or onward ticket as proof that you will not extend the permitted stay period. Furthermore, a sufficient amount of money to spend in India is also important but that may not be asked to show as proof.
While at the airport, you can easily get help for navigation. There are proper legible signboards and directions you will see at the airport including a sign showing you the direction for the e-Visa counter. Go with the direction and you will not face any confusion. If there is a rush at the counter, you can wait in the waiting room for your turn. Upon reaching the desk, you will be required to provide 'e-Visa copy' and 'arrival and departure form' to initiate the process.
Afterward, you will get the Arrival and Departure form that you need to fill. The details required may include your name, passport number, country of origin, etc. You may also need to provide information about the hotel you have booked. In case, you have not booked any, you can skip that part. All in all, the process is quite easy to complete and will not take much time if you keep all the required documents handy. The stamp will be placed on one of the blank pages of your passport.
Your next move will be towards the immigration desk where your passport will be stamped for the second time. The process has to be done in order to ensure that your entry in India is completely legit and you are going to stay in India as per the limit mentioned on your e-Visa.
After the process is over, you can proceed towards your destination taking a taxi or any other transport. You can even get your currency converted at the airport as that is considered totally safe.
India is a splendid country to pay a visit to after obtaining an e-Visa. You can even apply for an emergency visa to India for any of your business, tourism or medical reasons using the same online process. There is no need to stand in long queues for an undefined period.
Just fill in the details in the India electronic visa application form correctly, upload the mandatory documents and make the payment. You will receive the email and you can take a printout of the e-Visa as well as the approval letter as they will be used during the check-in process.
